Franciscan Children’s Inpatient Tower

isgenuity is working with Franciscan Children’s (FC) and Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) to reimagine the approximately 10+ acre Brighton site with a comprehensive and sustainable campus. The master plan outlines the approach for the construction of a new standalone center-of-excellence hospital that will house the medical campus. This allows for the existing, outdated hospital buildings to be replaced by various therapy and wellness gardens, play spaces for patients and students of the Kennedy Day School (KDS), parking, a rain garden, and improved public realm. The KDS buildings will be retained and renovated for administration and expansion of the school.

Moving beyond traditional institutional healthcare design, this project creates a new inpatient tower with a therapeutic environment where children facing complex medical challenges can find joy, connection, and restoration, weaving together indoor and outdoor spaces that spark wonder and discovery, while providing world-class medical care.
