Henri and Belinda Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies
Massachusetts General Hospital
The Center for Targeted Therapies represents an important expansion for the Oncology Department at Massachusetts General Hospital. The new space includes seven infusion bays and three closed infusion rooms for extended stays associated with experimental cancer treatments. All of these spaces were designed to maximize patient comfort, which we considered to be particularly important in a facility where patients stay for extended periods.
Our efforts to enhance patient comfort included designing open, unencumbered spaces and large windows, which provide access to natural light and views to the exterior. These design features make patients feel safe and welcome, while limiting clinical impersonality.
Patients also benefit from the inclusion of a new pharmacy, which serves the unit and maintains coordinated care between patients and drug companies. It offers greater efficiency and convenience than was previously available at the facility.
